FIDDLER ON THE MOON investigates the mystery that has plagued scientists, theologians, and comedians for millennia: Will Judaism survive in space? The film provides answers from Neil deGrasse Tyson, astronauts Jeffrey Hoffman and Jessica Meir, and a quorum of rabbis and researchers.

The documentary short FIDDLER ON THE MOON: JUDAISM IN SPACE grew out of a simple question: Where do Jews go next? It is an age-old comedy bit, historical reality, and recently, a headline-grabbing crisis. Jews are always confronted by forces that threaten them when they stay.

With recent talk at SpaceX and NASA about settling other planets, rabbis and scholars debate how Judaism will survive in space. They look to historical precedents of how Jews have adjusted when traveling to remote parts of Earth. They examine how past Jewish astronauts and researchers have upheld traditions in space and space simulations. They even identify the Jewish values and ways of life that might benefit outer space communities.
